The Mummy har nu haft premiär i USA och är hittills sågad av den amerikanska kritikerkåren. Filmen är tänkt som introduktionen till Dark Universe - Universal Studios monsterfilm-serie. Men hur stor satsningen blir sägs hänga på huruvida The Mummy säljer och går hem hos publiken. Än så länge ser det alltså mörkt ut för Dark Universe. Kan Tom Cruise rädda filmen från att bli en kassaflopp?
